Good design opens doors
I attended an excellent event with Rise and Design at Digital House, featuring talks by product designers and innovators: Jonathan Butters Steve Threlfall from Life of Ply, and Daniel Isler from D Squared.

I really loved the introduction by passionate designer and host Terry McStea from Design Network North, who kicked off the with his holiday snaps, design focused of course. As a fellow obsessive creative junkie, I can relate to this. Is there a limit to how many doors and exotic door knobs you are allowed to take pictures of on holiday? Thankfully not.
The three hour session was reaffirming. It provoked discussion about the huge value that can be added by the creative and design world here in the UK, not only in building brands and business, but also through social value and opportunities that come from good practice. Prolific duo Steve Threlfall and Kate Stewart who I know from the Good Market showcased how they create social value and the impact this has, and how it drives their day to day business Life of Ply.

“Let’s think about solving problems. That is what designers do.”
Jonathan Butters
I won’t bullet the lessons learnt but I can tell you first hand how much value we as an industry add to the bottom line and beyond. More than ever, I am proud to be working in this sector, the opportunities it brings, and the future it can help shape.

This tiny one did make me laugh.
